Boston Snowblogging II
OK, it's cold. Take the gloves off to fiddle with the camera, line up a shot or two, and my fingers are numb. In like three minutes. The City is doing a good job keeping the streets clear, so far. The equipment is enormous (word supplied by my four-year-old son); there's a plow-bladed front loader so big I'm afraid to stand on the sidewalk when it passes. The sanding trucks are also large. I wonder if all the capital investment made by contractors for their Big Dig work is being amortized across winter plowing work, as well.

Yeah, first snowplow passed our Roslindale house at 5:39 p.m., when there was maybe 1 1/2 inches of snow. Nothing big, though - a small backhoe with a plow in front. Whole lotta sparks flying from that puppy.
