Who's the Liar: the Detective or the Lawyer Suing Him?

A Boston defense lawyer is suing a Boston Police Detective for slander, claiming the cop called him a liar.  Normally, I trust cops more than I trust defense lawyers (life experience), but in this case it might be the lawyer who's right.  The cop's word has already been called into question.
