City Councilor's Parking Tickets - Not a Big Deal
The Boston Herald today goes after Boston City Councilor Mike Ross for his parking violations: 115 in two years. Yes, that's a lot of tickets, but you know how many are left unpaid? Zero. He paid them all. He didn't try to get them fixed; he didn't leave them in the glovebox, or throw them on the sidewalk. He paid them.
Now, to be fair to the Herald [irony alert], Ross did owe about $400 when the Herald asked for his records. But that's paltry compared to the $5100 total he paid over two years without the Herald's looking at his records.
So, OK, he parks illegally. Sometimes I do too. As long as you pay the fines, that's the cost of living in the city. I wish the Herald would stay on a real story, like the Mayor's web of influence, or the Turnpike Chairman's apparent corruption, or the Suffolk Sheriff's probable criminality. Parking tickets? Paid parking tickets? That's just not news.
