Mocking and Relentless
John Daley's right about the observation deck at the Hancock Tower in Boston - I would love to see the city from the Hancock Tower, again. I saw it once when I was a boy. I would love to bring my sons up there and show them their hometown for, though I did not grow up here, they will. But I can't do that, because for some reason(s) known only to them, the building's owners at Beacon Capital won't let us up there.
They say it's a security risk. Um, why? Because I might knock out a window and jump on someone below? Because I might have a homing beacon in my shoe so a terrorist jet can find the building and fly into it? Because I might carry 57,000 pounds of jet fuel up there in a Thermos and set it ablaze? Why?
This building is one of the city's showpieces, and it is a mistake to keep it locked. I'm sure smart rich investors can figure out how to make a buck off an observation deck. Like, charge for it?
UPDATE: Maybe the Governor will sell tickets to the view to raise money for his next campaign.
