Buy a Ford For Freedom. I Hear the Hybrids Are Cheap Now

Ford_2Remember the dust-up a few months back between Ford Motors and the execrable Donald Wildmon of the repugnant American Family Association?  Well, the putz is boycotting Ford again for its support of gay-rights groups and gay-themed events.  Robert Farago, who is no bigot, is critical of Ford, thinking it should remain neutral:

"While all fair-minded people support the GBLT community’s right to fair treatment under the law and Ford's right to advertise its products where it pleases, the AFA raise a pertinent question: why is Ford donating money to gay and lesbian activist groups? Surely the company should take a politically neutral line in ALL its charitable contributions, restricting their largesse to apolitical organizations like children's hospitals."

I disagree.  It isn't a political issue.  It's a civil rights issue.  Neutrality is wrong, like Switzerland.  And Wildmon's Crazy Christian Fringe.

I'm with you, dude. Well-meaning people often make equal GLBT rights a "politcal" issue because the extreme right has done so first.

I mean, you don't see people going around being like, "Dammit, Ford really should stop giving money to that camp for children with disabilities, because that camp is only for a certain group! Those kids are getting special rights! No one is giving me a special camp! Never mind that I'm able-bodied and can participate in sports and stuff without help..."
