Back Bay Garbage Cans

I'm in favor of the new self-compacting garbage cans -assuming they actually work, and they don't cost too much.  The small and rare cans now scattered around the Back Bay often have piles of trash around them, especially on weekends when the Back Bay is crowded and the trash collectors are off duty or asleep somewhere.  It would be nice to have more cans, and cans that hold more.

Also, they should cut down on the garbage pickers and bums - both of which we could do without.

We have had these here in Downtown Crossing for a few months and they are fantastic. There is still trash on the streets but it's markedly less than before. Maybe the Back Bay Association should get these cans put in and let local artists paint them. Would that fit their idea of what a self-compacting, solar powered trash cans should look like?
