Happy New Year and Random Notes
1. It's cold and rainy on the Outer Cape, where my wife and kids and I are spending the extra-long weekend, sick, cranky and unhappy. But Happy New Year to you.
2. The loss of salary for those former Boston Municipal Police officers not making it onto the BPD proper seems unfair to me. This is quite apart from whether we ever needed a BMPD in the first instance, or whether half the officers should have gone onto BPD without going through civil service. (No and no, I think.)
3. Though I quibble with the descriptor "striking beauty," -the 1983 Porsche 944 was a mistake of a car, replete with new-model problems not fixed until the 1984 version and no 944 was ever a striking beauty- I won't quibble with Sally Jacobs' story - anytime the Boston Globe wants to put a pure car tale on the front page, it's OK with me.
I think you might have a grudge against 944s.
