I guess the Oscars are this weekend; I really don't care about the Oscars, but I did see one of the nominated movies last night. Walk the Line was amazing. I consider it the best love story I've seen on film. I am now in love with Reese Witherspoon. She was awesome. Just amazing. (Apparently America agrees, because she's just contracted to do a film for $29 million.)
I couldn't quite believe Joaquin Phoenix's Johnny Cash, not through any fault of his; it was fine acting. I just have so much of the real Johnny Cash in my mind, and my ears, that he couldn't sing past it. That said, both actors' singing was truly impressive and a feat worthy of recognition. I guess that means an Oscar. I endorse Walk the Line and Joaquin Phoenix for Oscars. I endorse Reese Witherspoon for Empress.
And you didn't like Reese before? Not only is she amazingly hot, she actually has some acting talent. I still, unfortunately, haven't seen that movie yet. Time to go to Best Buy and buy it. I've heard so many good reviews on it, I might as well just purchase it.
But, of course, let's not forget one of the hottest girls...Jennifer Love Hewitt. WOW. period.

Yes, she's great. But I still prefer Reese and, no, I hadn't noticed her before. BTW, the Reese thing is odd for me; I tend away from gentiles.

I tried to not like her, truly I did but I fell in love with her when I rented Vanity Fair recently. See that as well. A great film.
Walk the Line is on my rental list. A Boy Named Sue and Folsom Prison Blues were two popular Manhattan fueled post work songs played at 11 in my house growing up.

I grew up on country. I used to play Ring of Fire repeatedly (like, 20 times in a row) on my father's record player, and sing into a lamp, pretending to be Johnny Cash.
It's a good thing this blog is anonymous. I can't believe I admitted that.

I too saw walk the line last week and was very impressed with both performances. But I couldn't help laughing loudly after Witherspoon's oscar acceptance speech where she states her acting has meaning and makes a difference etc.. to which my girlfriend responded "Like in Legally Blonde?" Hah.. Reese did an amazing job in walk the line but you forgot what her previous "work" was.

Every actor/actress has to get a break from those serious roles and play something ditsy, like "Legally Blonde". I couldn't imagine always playing such serious roles and never getting a break to get on a set that was light and fun, rather then serious dramatic Oscar-performance acting all the time. I mean, even Robert De Niro does some light (Meet the Fockers) stuff sometimes. :)
I went out and purchased it last week and loved it. Its a great story and I never really knew too much about Johhny Cash. It was also a great love story...not to sound like a "sap" n' all, but c'mon...you know it was.

If only the 350 cities and towns could find the same political will. We can break the back of the police unions here, if people don't chicken out.
